Step 6: Slippers and Fairy Shoes Tutorial

Prepare to Embellish Your Slippers

Before you begin adorning your slippers with all kinds of goodies and after you are certain that the glue is good and dry, use a scissors or the back of a pen or pencil to give the slipper some shape. Insert the scissors and gently work the fabric into the shape of a shoe.

Choosing Your Embellishments

For my slippers, I have opted to use tiny pom poms sold at the craft store, but you can do whatever you like to make your slippers special for your doll! My only recommendation is that if you are gluing fabric to fabric, Tacky Glue works best. You can use fabric glue, but it tends to take longer to dry.

If you are gluing metal to fabric, you may want to use either a hot glue gun or a gem-to-fabric glue. Keep in mind that using a metal object, such as a charm, will make the shoes heavy for your doll.

Final Touching Up

Using your cuticle scissors, check to see if any glue got onto the fleece. If it did, the cuticle scissor can be used to trim away the glue. If you used traditional fabric, use your fingernail or a tweezers to loosen and remove excess glue.
